42 Tree Plantations at DevaraKaadu off Channapattana town, on Bengaluru Mysuru Highway (Episodes # 529 - 570)

Had an opportunity to attend a day long workshop in the hut next to the DevaraKaadu off Channapattana town. Smitha Kamath, the creator of the DevaraKaadu had organized this day long workshop, which was all about healthy living in integration with nature. It had two parts, forenoon session on Probiotics DIY, and the afternoon session on Deep Ecology / Inner Awareness.

The topping on the cake was the invite to stay over in the hut for the night, had quite a deep sleep. The pleasant morning was the perfect opportunity to do the plantations, the recent rains in the vicinity was quite favorable for these plantations.

I was  looking forward for the plantation of Mexican Sunflower in the vicinity of Devrkaadu. It was most appropriate thing to do as DevaraKaadu celebrates the sacredness of the nature leading to natural wealth in life of a community around. It makes perfect sense to garland the whole vicinity with the breath taking Mexican Sunflower showers as a border on the fence of the place. Also, the whole green revolution we are attempting to green the Bengaluru and eventually the entire planet is leveraging the easy and convenient Mexican Sunflower, which was originally collected from the Channapattana town, so it makes perfect sense to pay the homage to the entire town to go back and plant some.

Last hair cut of Mexican Sunflower from the Ashrama Gardens Urban EverGreen jungle was on Nov 23rd, prior to distribution of 40+ cuttings through the Bengaluru West OTG meet. This time I could harvest 42 plantations worth cuttings on Dec 7th, just after 2 weeks. Looks like the productivity of the Mexican Sunflower factory at Ashrama Gardens is now at approx. 60 cuttings per month, which is a great news as this means we have crossed the 50 cuttings per month target. Given the winter atmosphere, I anticipate another 40 cuttings to be ready by January 2019 first week.  If the plantation demands remain, the factory will ramp up towards 100 cuttings per month productivity.
